This grant supports The World to carry out its outstanding and accessible reporting on the important international news of the day, helping Americans understand the interconnections between their communities and the rest of the world. Public Radio International is a producer and distributor of public radio programming, including PRI’s "The World," which is a daily international news program carried by over 300 public radio stations with a weekly cumulative audience of nearly 3 million listeners. With this acquisition, The World adds to its already substantial reporting capacity and greatly enlarges its potential to reach a non-public radio audience online. ![]() In September 2015, The World announced an acquisition of the reporting and digital assets of GlobalPost, a six-year-old, online-only international news provider that was in its early days a very influential and well-read news site.
